Eye Object

Eye Object

Teamwork is often the best kind of work, especially when you get to surprise people in the process. For this you’ll need an undercover assistant to work alongside you and show off your mind-reading skills in a simple, effective way.

Guide lines
Ready, Steady, Go!

This works best in front of a group of people. Something like a meeting, office party or teambuilding setting is ideal.

I’m going to step out of the room, if you can please choose one object amongst yourselves – and I’ll guess what it is when I come back in. Ready?

Lend me your ears

Your accomplice will stay in the room amongst the people choosing the object.

Please all agree on the object, to help me see it clearly.

Leave the room.

Seal the Deal and Reveal

Return to the room and randomly ask your undercover assistant (let’s call him Joe) to start pointing out objects in the room, explaining that you’ll guess what it is.

Thanks for your decision, I’m now going to use my psychic ability to determine what you chose… Joe, can you start pointing out objects.

Get Joe to point out a few objects, rub your temples as you pretend to determine if that is the chosen object.

Here’s the secret: you will have told your assistant to point to the chosen object directly after pointing to a black object (ie, the object after the black object is the one).

With a bit more forehead touching for effect, reveal what they chose.

Some extra lines you can try

  • The Force is strong with me.
  • Being psychic has always been a hobby of mine.
  • You should see how much money I win on horse racing.
Alternative ending

Do it one more time if the group reception is good, just to show them it wasn’t a fluke. If you don’t want to leave them guessing, explain the secret. Then get your assistant to take a bow.

Anticipated responses and retorts

Are you guys in on this together?

Yes, I can read his/her mind.

How you doing that?

It’s a gift.

Can you tell me who is going to win the big horse race tomorrow?

I could, but then that would not be any fun.
