Pilot Translating Earpiece
Expect to see this tech used in an upcoming RomCom movie, where two people who don’t speak the same language fall in love through an app.
The Pilot language translating device has two separate earpieces that connect via Bluetooth. Once you’ve started up the app, begin a conversation with another person, and it will translate your partner's speech in real-time.
Waverly Labs aim to sell the earpieces with packages for English, Spanish, French and Italian. Additional languages will be available for download later for an additional fee. Smartphones will also store language databases locally, so the app doesn't need an Internet connection to work. And the earpieces also double as wireless music earphones.
They’re currently only available as a pre-order, to be released in 2017, but this seems like the kind of idea that could make the global village even smaller.
