The Arrangement

The Arrangement

From an early age we learn and aspire to make impressions on those people we admire or care about. Whether it's done to connect, nurture, mentor, or even just to make them smile for a moment. Sometimes a shared moment of unexpected delight can change your whole day, or even your relationship with another. With the use of Post-It notes or a couple of pieces of paper and just an old pen, you can aim to achieve this.

Guide lines
Ready, Steady, Go!

Use two Post-It notes or piece of papers. In bold text write the words ‘AN IMP’ (make sure to have a small space between the AN and the IMP) on one and ‘RESSION’ on the other.

Show it to your chosen friend, family or colleague. It won’t mean much to them as it stands, you can even shuffle the words around, place them in different order or on top and below one another. Just don’t reveal the twist just yet.

Does this make sense to you?

Lend me your ears

Once you have their attention and they've given up trying to figure out what you're on about.

With just a few pieces of paper and some random letters…

Some extra lines you can try (if they are still unsure)

  • Thanks for giving me a hand, both of them.
  • Let's make sense of this together. All will be revealed.
Seal the Deal and Reveal

Place the words, 'AN IMP' and 'RESSION' alongside each other to form the sentence, 'AN IMPRESSION' in their line of site.

Will you look at that… I've just made an impression on you.

Enjoy the smiles at the reveal and let them keep the words.

Some extra lines you can try

  • I hope I can keep doing so.
  • Mission accomplished, I've always wanted to make an impression on you.
  • Would you like to make an impression on me?
  • Take those words, make an impression on someone else.
Alternative ending

Place the Post-It notes on a person’s hand, and then take a photo of the words on their hand with your phone and tell them that they'll now never be able to deny the impression you made on them.
