Tickle Your Fancy

Tickle Your Fancy

Relaxing in the great outdoors doesn’t mean there’s no room for a bit of fun and icebreaking. You don’t need elaborate props to stir the imagination, just a bit of ingenuity and playfulness. In this case, a branch or long piece of grass.

Guide lines
Ready, Steady, Go!

Get on your walking shoes and invite someone along.

You:

I know there are a lot of insects out there, but let’s get some fresh air.

Lend me your ears

Without being noticed while on your walk, casually grab an appropriate tickle stick from the ground.

A little later, and also in a casual style, lift the stick up behind your back without them seeing it and give their ear or side of their head a tickle.

Seal the Deal and Reveal

As soon as they feel the tickle, drop the tickle stick back down to your side opposite them, obscuring it with the other side of your body and leg. Keep the conversation going as you do it.

Add to the deception by swatting at the air as if insects are also bugging you.

Some extra lines you can try

  • It’s just a bit of fun, don’t tell me to buzz off.
  • Thought I’d bug you before the bugs started bugging.
  • Nothing like a tickle to get you smiling.
Alternative ending

How long can you keep the prank going before being discovered? (You’ll be surprised how long if you keep a straight face.)

Alternatively, enlist the help of an accomplice and try it out with both of you doing the tickling on either side of the unsuspecting person.
